Afyon Kocatepe University (AKU) Department of Foreign Language Education <\/b>successfully organized a cultural exchange panel titled \u201cBridging Cultures: A Journey to Cambodia and Colombia\u201d, <\/b>held at the Abdullah Kaptan Conference Hall, the event offered a vibrant exploration of global diversity in collaboration with the English<\/b>\u00a0Language Teaching (ELT) Club<\/b> and the Erasmus Society<\/b>.<\/p>\n

World Cultures Converge on Campus<\/h3>\n

The panel featured international students Diana Sofia<\/b> from Colombia, and Khem Nvaeng<\/b> and Phaly Manh<\/b> from Cambodia. They shared rich insights into their homelands\u2019 histories, spiritual traditions, and daily lives.<\/p>\n

    Beyond Colombian Coffee:<\/b> Diana Sofia highlighted that Colombia is much more than its world-renowned coffee and music. She emphasized the country’s status as a global leader in biodiversity and explained the unique “thermal layers” climate system. Her candid reflections on Turkish hospitality and the “cultural surprise” of drinking ayran<\/i> resonated warmly with the audience.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    The Spiritual Heritage of Cambodia:<\/b> Khem Nvaeng and Phaly Manh painted a detailed picture of the Kingdom of Cambodia, from the majestic Angkor Wat temple to the deep-rooted traditions of Theravada Buddhism. They introduced the audience to the Khmer language, the bustling life of Phnom Penh, and the serene, traditional stilt houses of the countryside.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Education and Global Citizenship<\/h3>\n

    At the Department of Foreign Language Education<\/b>, we aim to foster not only linguistic proficiency but also intercultural competence<\/b> in our students. The event concluded with an interactive session where participants learned basic Khmer phrases and exchanged messages of global friendship.<\/p>\n
