Congratulations on earning a place in the English Language Teaching Program at Afyon Kocatepe University through the 2026 YKS or the international student admission process. We are delighted to welcome you to our department.<\/p>\n
An orientation program will be organised during the first weeks of the academic year to help you adjust to university life and become familiar with academic procedures. The program will introduce you to the University, our department, the Student Information System, academic advising, international exchange programs, and other student opportunities. Further details will be announced on the Department\u2019s website and social media account.<\/p>\n
Please read the following information carefully.<\/p>\n
Classes for the Fall Semester of the 2026\u20132027 academic year will begin on Monday, September 21, 2026<\/strong>. Course registration for undergraduate students will take place between September 14 and 16, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Please consult the University\u2019s 2026\u20132027 Academic Calendar<\/a> for further information.<\/p>\n The English Language Teaching Program includes a compulsory English preparatory year. Students who are not granted an exemption must attend the preparatory program offered by the School of Foreign Languages.<\/p>\n Further information is available on the English Preparatory Program webpage<\/a>.<\/p>\n Students admitted to the English Language Teaching Program take the AKU-YDYS Category A Examination<\/strong>. For the 2026\u20132027 academic year, the examination will be held at the School of Foreign Languages on September 8 and 9, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The examination consists of two stages and three sessions:<\/p>\n Application procedures, examination times, and room information will be announced separately by the School of Foreign Languages. You should therefore regularly check the AKU-YDYS information page<\/a>.<\/p>\n Students who do not pass the examination will begin the compulsory English preparatory program at the School of Foreign Languages.<\/p>\n Students may qualify for full exemption if, within the last five years, they have obtained a valid score corresponding to at least 70 on the AKU scale from an international four-skills examination recognised as equivalent by \u00d6SYM, such as TOEFL iBT.<\/p>\n A YDS score of 70 or above may be accepted in place of Stage 1 of the AKU-YDYS Category A Examination. However, these students must still take Stage 2, which assesses listening, writing, and speaking, and receive at least 70 points at this stage. Y\u00d6KD\u0130L scores are not accepted for exemption from the preparatory program.<\/strong><\/p>\n Students requesting full or partial exemption must email their petition and a verifiable copy of their examination result to fgungor@aku.edu.tr<\/a>, copying gkapucu@aku.edu.tr<\/a>, by 3 September 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Students who successfully complete the English Language Proficiency Examination must register for their first-year courses between September 14 and 16, 2026<\/strong>.
