We congratulate you on your achievement in YKS 2022 (Higher Education Institutions Exam) or YÖS 2022 (International Student Exam). We are thrilled to welcome you to the 2022-2023 academic years. As a new student of our department, you are at the beginning of a long journey in your career. In this journey, our faculty and staff will always be here to help you succeed. We hope you are also excited to start your studies at our university. The academic year will start on 26 September 2022. In the first weeks, we are planning to support you with a line of orientation programs (the University, International Programs, etc.), and your presence is really important for this.
Below, we would like to share a few reminders and listings for you:
- A preparatory class is compulsory for English Language Teaching program. If you want to pass the preparatory year, you need to take the proficiency exam and get 70 out of 100. The proficiency exam will be on 21 September 2022 at the School of Foreign Languages. To take this exam, you are supposed to register from this link.
- If you have 70 from the YDS (Foreign Language Exam) or equivalent exam (CPE, CAE, TOEFL, PTE) result, please give a petition to the Faculty of Education between 19-21 September to be exempted from the prepatory year. Just as a reminder! YÖKDİL is not accepted.
- The exam will consist of 4 main sections: Reading (25%), listening (25%), writing (25%), and use of English (25%).
- The students who pass the proficiency exam should register their first year courses through the student system between 19 and 23 September 2022. It is possible to use e-devlet credentials to access to the student system.
- The students who fail the proficiency exam will go on their studies with a preparatory program at the School of Foreign Languages.
- The students having problem with the course registration can communicate with their advisors through their e-mails. The advisor is Res. Asst. Gamze Kapucu (gkapucu[at]aku.edu.tr) for first graders and Res. Asst. Merve Vezir (mvezir[at]aku.edu.tr) for second graders.
