Dear Students,

Congratulations on your achievements in the YKS 2024 or TR-YÖS 2024 exams! We’re excited to welcome you to the 2024-2025 academic year. Your journey with us is just beginning, and we’re here to support your success every step of the way.

The academic year starts on 23 September 2024. In the first weeks, orientation programs are planned to help you settle in, covering topics like the university and international programs. Your participation is essential.

Here are some key points to remember:

• A preparatory class is necessary if you’re in the English Language Teaching program. The exam will be on September 18, 2024, at the School of Foreign Languages. You can find information about the preparatory program by clicking here and information about the preparatory proficiency exam by clicking here.
• You can skip the preparatory year if you get 70 or more points from the exams that measure four language skills and are accepted as equivalent by ÖSYM (e.g., TOEFL). If you have received a score of 70 in the YDS exam organized by ÖSYM, you can have this exam counted as the first session of the qualifying exam, but you have to attend the second exam stage. In this case, your petition and your result document will be sent to afegitim@aku.edu.tr by adding the address gkapucu@aku.edu.tr between the dates of your university registration and three business days before the course registration week (for the 2024-2025 year, this date is September 10, 2024). You can apply by sending (a petition sample: https://fled.aku.edu.tr/en/documents/ogrenciler-icin-belgeler/).
• Students who pass the language proficiency exam can register for first-year courses by logging into the student system (https://obs.aku.edu.tr/oibs/ogrenci/login.aspx) with their e-government information between 19-20 September 2023.
• If you don’t pass, don’t worry. You’ll join the preparatory program at the School of Foreign Languages (the School of Foreign Languages).

• Our university gives Üniyurt accommodation scholarship and lunch scholarship. Applications are made online via this link.
• It is planned to hold a foreign language exam for students who want to participate in the Erasmus+ program at the beginning of the semester. You can follow the announcements on this subject at uim.aku.edu.tr.
