The Department of English Language Teaching at the Faculty of Education organized a critical meeting to ensure the standard and effective progression of the Teaching Practice I course on 7 October 2025. The meeting was attended by all fourth-year prospective teachers enrolled in the course and all academic staff responsible for the practice component.
The primary objective of the meeting was to establish standardization in the practice process. To this end, students’ practice schools were announced, the Teaching Practice Directive was explained in detail, and the Teaching Practice File/Portfolio specially prepared by the Department was introduced. Comprehensive information was provided regarding the tasks that students are required to complete throughout the semester.
The meeting also emphasized the strong connection between the prospective teachers’ prior learning and the teaching practice experience. A significant feature of the Department-prepared Practice File/Portfolio was highlighted: it was designed to include the European Language Teacher Competencies to enable prospective teachers to conduct a self-assessment. It was stated that all tasks within the file were meticulously prepared by taking these competencies into consideration. The participation of all academic staff was crucial in achieving a shared understanding and the goal of standardization in the execution of the course.
