On April 28, 2026, a group of ten students from the Department of English Language Teaching participated in a professional development visit to English Time Language School as part of the Mentor-Mentee Project organized by the International Entrepreneurial Women Association.
The visit was hosted by the founder of the institution, Ms. Melike, and the branch manager, Mr. Ömer. During the four-hour event, students were introduced to the history, educational philosophy, and organizational structure of English Time. The speakers also shared valuable insights into teacher recruitment, student profiles, material development, and the operation of private language schools in Türkiye.
One of the highlights of the visit was learning about English Time’s material development process. Students had the opportunity to examine the institution’s publications and learn how educational materials are designed and adapted to meet learners’ needs. It was particularly interesting to discover that English Time is among the few language schools in Türkiye that publishes its own course books.
Although a classroom observation was not possible, the participants received detailed information about the institution’s level system and instructional framework. This provided a broader understanding of how language programs are structured and managed in private educational settings.
The visit also created an opportunity for meaningful discussions about career development in the field of English language teaching. Through sharing their professional experiences, the speakers offered practical advice and encouraged students to reflect on their future career paths.
This experience contributed to the participants’ professional awareness by connecting theoretical knowledge gained at university with real-world practices in language education. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Ms. Melike and Mr. Ömer for their hospitality, valuable insights, and warm welcome.
