Students from the Afyon Kocatepe University (AKU) English Language Teaching (ELT) Department have demonstrated exceptional leadership and professional skill during a recent international Erasmus+ project hosted in Afyonkarahisar.
The Erasmus+ project, titled “From Rural to Innovation: Sustainability and Qualified Employment in Agriculture with Young People,” recently concluded its mobility phase. Ten distinguished students from our ELT Department served as the academic and cultural backbone of the initiative, ensuring its success through expert mediation.

Beyond Translation: Linguistic and Cultural Diplomacy
While the project focused on agricultural sustainability, its seamless execution was driven by our students, who acted as vital linguistic and cultural mediators. Moving far beyond simple translation, they facilitated high-level communication between delegations from Italy and Portugal and local experts. This involvement highlighted the indispensable role of language professionals in high-stakes, global socio-technical projects.
