Dear Students,
Congratulations on your achievements in the YKS 2023 or YÖS 2023 exams! We’re excited to welcome you to the 2023-2024 academic year. Your journey with us is just beginning, and we’re here to support your success every step of the way.
The academic year starts on October 2, 2023. In the first weeks, we have orientation programs planned to help you settle in, covering topics like the university and international programs. Your participation is important.
Here are some key points to remember:
- If you’re in the English Language Teaching program, a preparatory class is a must. To pass the year, aim for a 70 out of 100 score on the proficiency exam. The exam will be on September 27, 2023, at the School of Foreign Languages. Register here: forms.gle/36vdKot1WKFZqdXaA
- If you’ve scored 70+ in YDS or equivalent (CPE, CAE, TOEFL, PTE), you can skip the preparatory year. Send a petition (sample: https://fled.aku.edu.tr/en/documents/ogrenciler-icin-belgeler/) with your exam resultto afegitim@aku.edu.tr between September 18-20 at the Faculty of Education. YÖKDİL scores won’t be accepted. To learn more: https://fled.aku.edu.tr/wp-content/uploads/sites/132/2022/09/Zorunlu-Yabanci-Dil-Programi.pdf
- The proficiency exam has four parts: Reading (25%), Listening (25%), Writing (25%), and Use of English (25%).
- Passed the proficiency exam? Register for first-year courses on the student system (obs.aku.edu.tr/oibs/ogrenci/login.aspx) between September 18-22, 2023, using e-devlet credentials.
- If you don’t pass, don’t worry. You’ll join the preparatory program at the School of Foreign Languages (the School of Foreign Languages).
- Need help with course registration? Reach out to your advisors by email: Res. Asst. Merve Vezir Kaplan (mvezir@aku.edu.tr) for first-year and third-year students and Res. Asst. Gamze Kapucu (gkapucu@aku.edu.tr) for second-year students.
